In order to strengthen the cognition of the undergraduates of 2022 to their own major. On December 2, 2022, the major of Materials Science and Engineering of the College of Ocean Science and Engineering launched the professional cognition education for freshmen. Mr. Yanhua Yue, director of the Department of Materials, gave a lecture. Full-time teachers Li Xiaofeng, Zhang Fuhua, Sun Kai, Qu Shaopeng, counselor Lei Mengyu and all new students of the Department of Materials attended the meeting.


Ms. Yanhua explained in detail from four aspects: faculty strength, scientific research strength, graduation direction and study style construction, helping students to build professional confidence and clarify the major situation. Class teacher emphasized that students should first learn to be a man, then do learning things, with the school motto loyalty and respect always encourage themselves. Teacher Li Xiaofeng vividly compares college life to cultivation, encouraging students to seriously experience and devote themselves to shaping themselves in the four years. From his own perspective, Teacher Sun Kai has changed his identity from off the platform to on the platform. He encourages students present here to set a small goal first and achieve amazing transformation in the four years of college life with the spirit of taking small steps to travel a thousand miles. Mr. Qu Shaopeng encouraged the students to study hard and love life. He proposed that college study was different from high school study and put forward the requirements of self-discipline and self-improvement for the students. Mr. Zhang Fuhua made a detailed introduction to the strength accumulation and bright prospects of materials science and engineering majors around the theme of Great potential for common progress, and welcomed students to communicate with teachers in life, study and scientific research.


Through the professional cognition education, the freshmen of the Department of Materials have a deeper understanding of the major, firm recognition and confidence of the major, and have a clearer layout plan for the future. With loyalty and respect in mind, they will walk forward together in the next four years.
